Handy Dandy New Desk Lamp
February 6th, 2009

If you have a serious shortage on outlets, but need a light for next to your computer this lamp would come in handy. It’s powered by your USB port. It’s of course pretty small, since it is USB powered. I don’t know that I’ve ever been so desperate for outlets, that I wanted a lamp that can be plugged into my computer. However, apparently someone has had the dilemma and doesn’t have access to a power strip of any kind. At least this is one of the few USB gadgets that actually is aesthetically appealing and not in the least bit cheesy.
It doesn’t have flashing colored LED lights or four other barely useful gadgets built into it. It’s simply a lamp to give you a little more task lighting. Really, I still think it makes more sense to buy a normal lamp, but I can still appreciate the lamp. Especially since it’s so affordable. The lamp stand itself is made from black plastic and the shade has a velveteen black finish. The lamp measures 25.5 x 10 x 10 cm. You can purchase it for £5.99 or about $9 from I want one of those.

The USB Tank Missile Launcher
January 26th, 2009

There have been a few different types of missile launchers, yet this one has the ability to chase down your co-workers and friends. The USB tank is controlled on your laptop or PC and from there you can steer as well as make it shoot at whichever target you like. The little pink missiles will be great to take out anyone causing trouble. You can even change the angle it shoots, for those times when your target is up high.
The USB toys can shoot 12 feet and you can control four different tanks at once. Which is far better than all of the missile launchers that just sit on your desk and don’t even chase anyone down. Sadly, there’s bad news for Mac users that don’t feel like running Windows. You have to be running Windows 2000, XP or Vista for this to work. They have a video showing the tank being operated and it’s incredibly simple. You can purchase it on Red5 for £40.00 or about $56.

Four Eyes USB Drive
January 26th, 2009

Most USB drives are getting smaller and smaller, some so small that many of us would either lose them or manage to break them. With the trend as it is, many might find it odd to see this Four Eyes USB Drive. It’s not even trying to be small, yet it has a reason for the shape it flaunts so proudly. The glasses are to pay respects to all of the nerds, the misfits. The long yet thin shape is so that you can not only use this as your USB drive, but for a bookmark as well.
I find the design to be truly brilliant. When I pack up my laptop bag there are a few things that always get packed along with my laptop, one thing being at least one book. If you ever wanted to keep track of your USB drive while traveling, stashing it in your book would be an effective way. That is unless you’re the sort that loses bookmarks on a regular basis. The drive isn’t out just yet, you’ll see it popping up in March. At which point it will be sold for $29 for a 2GB drive.
